BEETHOVEN Namensfeier Overture, Op. 115
BRAHMS Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn, Op. 56a
BEETHOVEN The Symphony No. 3 in E - flat Major “Eroica”, Op. 55
The renowned Austrian conductor Christian Arming will be presenting a performance of German classical music. When we think of Beethoven, his Ode an die Freude immediately comes to mind. The universal concepts of “equality and caritas” in the Ninth Symphony resonate with every human soul. Namensfeier Overture, an overture composition that is not widely known, is believed by many music analysts to have predated Ode an die Freude. This piece shares similar musical ideas and motivations with Ode an die Freude, and its happier, simpler, and purer emotional representation makes it popular with audiences. In Brahms Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn, Brahms captured the essence of classical music. It’ s interesting to note that many people, including the composer Brahms himself, assumed that the theme in Brahms Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn was composed by Haydn, but this is not the case, and it doesn’ t stop us from loving the “Haydn” style theme. Brahms constantly modified this theme, elevating it to new heights. The Symphony “Eroica” in E - flat Major, one of the most important pieces in Western music history, evokes various emotions in each movement. Beethoven gradually lost his hearing while composing this work and suffered greatly. The hero in the music faced demise and then returned to life due to his strong will, ultimately triumphantly returning. This not only represents Beethoven’ s aspirations but also a beautiful vision shared by all of humanity.
